Fish Stick Recipe

Fish sticks are a fun, tasty and kid-friendly recipe. These baked fish sticks are something you can feel good about serving!

Fish sticks are a pretty nostalgic food. I ate many of them while I was growing up, and I fondly remember their flavor dipped in tartar sauce. It’s a great kid-friendly recipe, but it’s true that I don’t feel good about serving my family frozen.

This homemade fish stick recipe is a much better version of that nostalgic food. It is crispy, baked, tender, flaky and full of flavor. This is something that I will happily eat and share with my family. Making baked fish sticks from scratch gives me full control over what’s in it (i.e. real fish), and they come out so delicious.

Do this for the children, for yourself and for the whole family! They’re a fun dinner, a good meal for kids’ parties, or even something that can serve as a snack. And don’t forget the fries!

These tasty, crispy baked fish sticks wouldn’t be complete without the perfect dip. Homemade tartar sauce is the perfect combination for fish, and this recipe is really quick and easy to prepare. It is a mixture of mayonnaise, pickles, and lemon juice. Dijon mustard, chives and shallots.

Just mix everything and refrigerate before serving. I love this creamy, spicy, bold tartar sauce mixed with the flavor of fish.

How to make homemade fish sticks

Making homemade fish sticks is pretty easy once you have everything set up. The basic process includes cutting the fish fillets into “sticks”, covering them with breadcrumbs, and then baking them. It’s simple, and once you’ve mastered it, each club leaves quickly.

Prepare three shallow bowls for the dredging process: one with flour, one with beaten eggs and Dijon mustard together, and one with Panko breadcrumbs and dry breadcrumbs.

How to make fish sticks:

Cut fish fillets into 1-inch strips

Dredging one stick at a time

Press in the flour and whisk

Dip it in the egg mixture and cover it, then let the excess drip

Press on the breadcrumbs

Once they are covered and placed on the baking sheet, drizzle them with cooking spray oil.

Bake in the oven at 400 ° F for 6 minutes, flip, then bake for another 6-10 minutes

They come crispy, flaky and VERY tasty! Ready to eat and perfect for dipping.

Many of those found in restaurants or frozen foods are fried. That’s why you should exactly make them at home instead of buying them somewhere else! These baked fish sticks are much better in every way.

Again, the typical ones you find won’t be particularly healthy, but this homemade fish stick recipe is a much better version. I won’t say these are GREAT for you overall, but fish is nutrient dense and a good source of protein. Baked is always better than fried, fresh is always better than frozen, and homemade is always better than premade.

These fish sticks are BAKED AND NOT FRIED, which makes them much healthier than store-bought or restaurant-bought fried fish. We love traditionally fried baking recipes … here are some other favorites:
